News » School starts today throughout Fox Cities

Sept. 1, 2010
It's the first day of school in Appleton and around the Fox Cities.

Summer vacation is over for students -- they're returning to the classroom today. Appleton school superintendent Lee Allinger says teachers and administrators have spent a lot of time preparing for this day.

Allinger says it's important that parents, teachers and students work together, so the school year can be a success.

There are about 15,000 students in the Appleton district, and 1,100 are coming to school for the first time, as kindergartners. Allinger says it's always exciting to see the new students and their parents on a memorable day.
