News » Roth considering run for Congress

Nov. 20, 2009
An area lawmaker could become the seventh Republican in the race for the 8th congressional district.

Grand Chute Rep. Roger Roth says he is seriously considering throwing his hat into the ring.  He says the country is at a crossroads right now, and he's concerned that it could turn into a social welfare state.

If he chooses to run, he'll join an already crowded Republican ticket that includes a former state lawmaker, two county board supervisors, a roofer and a doctor.

The winner of the primary will likely face incumbent Democrat Steve Kagen in the November election.  He hasn't yet officially declared his candidacy.
