Over 400 children from five Green Bay area schools will be getting backpacks filled with food today as part of the annual Blessings in a Backpack Day.
Beth Bush is with the non-profit based in Kentucky. She says there are many reasons a child may need the program. She says the most important thing is to make sure children are nourished and ready to learn.
Bush says kids who qualify for the free and reduced lunch program can participate.
Children get a backpack full of food for every weekend during the school year.
