Nearly three years after three teens were killed in a Shawano County crash, the suspected driver entered no contest pleas.
Twenty-year-old Ryan Swadner of Cecil was convicted of three counts of homicide by drugged driving, after he reached a plea deal today.
Prosecutors say Swadner was speeding and high on marijuana, when he lost control of his vehicle on Highway 22, in the town of Belle Plaine, in October of 2014.
Eighteen-year-old Tyler Welch, 17-year-old Cody Borsche, and 15-year-old Paige Brunette lost their lives. Welch and Borsche were seniors at Shawano high school. Brunette was a sophomore at Bonduel.
As part of the deal, a judge dismissed three counts of second-degree reckless homicide. Swadner will be sentenced in January.
