The Grand Chute police department is one of several local departments hoping to get enough votes in an online contest to earn money for their K-9 unit.
Aftermath, a trauma hazard and bio cleaning service, is offering five grants, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.
Grand Chute Officer Travis Waas says the department has had one dog since 2011, and the money would come in handy. He says they could use it for training and safety equipment.
Appleton, Fox Valley Metro, Green Bay, and Neenah police departments are also in the running.
