A rally at UW-Oshkosh last night helped start conversations about sexual assault, rape and violence.
The Fox Valley Take Back the Night event stressed not staying silent.
Stephanie Spellman of Neenah was raped when she was 22 years old, and she shared her story in front of a room full of people, encouraging women to speak up if they’re attacked. Spellman says people who are attacked shouldn’t feel ashamed, because it wasn’t their fault.
The advocacy director at Reach Counseling says the “Me Too” hashtag popping up on social media is creating awareness and women and men are coming forward to say they’ve been assaulted.
