The leaders of Appleton and Neenah are reacting to ThedaCare’s decision.
The Appleton hospital once known as Appleton Medical Center is on the north side on Meade Street.
Mayor Tim Hanna says it puts to rest a lot of anxiety in the community. He says it has been a part of the community for almost 60 years.
Neenah Mayor Dean Kaufert says he’s extremely pleased that the former Theda Clark hospital will stay open. He says in life, sometimes you don’t realize what you have, until you almost lose it.
Kaufert and Hanna say they’re going to work with ThedaCare leaders on any upgrades that they plan to do to the hospitals in the future.
