One of the summer’s big events is secure in Oshkosh at the expense of a race track.
The Winnebago County board reversed course from last June and agreed to put a permanent stage by the grandstand on the Sunnyview Expo Center grounds. That means the Oshkosh Speedzone race track will be removed.
Parks director Rob Way says that was the only option to accommodate the festival’s projected growth over the next 10 years. He says the county will move forward with its part of the work.
Lifest has a six-million dollar annual economic impact on the Oshkosh area.
