The Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region is getting $3.5 million from the Basic Needs Giving Partnership. The Community Foundations from Oshkosh and Green Bay will get just over $1 million.
Curt Detjen is CEO of the Fox Valley group. He explains they’re targeting preschool students, adults experiencing homelessness and the Spanish-speaking population. He says it’s a wide variety of people because many people are affected.
Detjen says more than 250,000 will be used to build a Day Resource Center at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church on South Mason Street. It will be a place that homeless people can stay to get out of the weather and get connected to resources.
The Basic Needs Giving Partnership awarded a record $5.5 million dollars to more than 200 non-profits in Northeast Wisconsin.
