No one is challenging Neenah’s mayor in the April election, and Mayor Dean Kaufert says he’s grateful that people have confidence in him.
Kaufert says running a campaign is distracting, and he can continue to focus on the city. He says in March, he’ll still go door-to-door to about 1,000. He thinks it’s important to stay in touch with people.
When he first ran for mayor, Kaufert says he knocked on every door in the city.
George Scherck was the last Neenah Mayor to run opposed in 2006. He was running for his second term. Kaufert is seeking his second term, after he defeated Scherck in 2014.
