Appleton leaders will hear about the options for financing the downtown expo center next week.
The financing package for the soon-to-open Fox Cities Exhibition Center is still being ironed out, and Appleton’s finance committee will talk about it on Monday.
The issue is whether to use a variable or fixed rate loan to pay off the $31 million project. There will be presentations for both options at the meeting.
The finance committee will then make a recommendation to the city council. According to the expo center agreement, the Appleton Redevelopment Authority has the final say on the financing.
Neenah Mayor Dean Kaufert raised concerns earlier this week about the potential long-term costs of a variable rate loan.
