After jurors found a 48-year-old man guilty of all 14 charges in a deadly standoff in Neenah, they’ll now have to decide if he was mentally competent at the time.
The second phase of Brian Flatoff’s trial gets underway this morning. He entered insanity pleas to all of the charges.
Last Friday’s guilty verdicts completed the first phase of the trial.
Prosecutors say Flatoff was trying to get a motorcycle back, at Eagle Nation Cycles, in December of 2015. Hostage Michael Funk was shot and killed by two Neenah police officers. He had a gun when he ran outside.
