Tibetan Buddhist monks are visiting St. Norbert College this week.
They’ll be working on a sand sculpture, called a mandala, and holding different events.
Asst. Professor of Art Debbie Kupinsky invited them to the De Pere campus. She says creating the mandala is a form of prayer and meditation. It’s a three-by-four foot square, and they’ll finish it on Thursday. It will be dismantled in a ritual on Friday.
Kupinsky says they’ll be working on the mandala, at the college’s Norman Miller Center for Peace, Justice and Public Understanding, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The community is welcome to watch.
The monks will host a lecture tomorrow night, and they’ll give a sacred music and dance performance on Thursday evening.
