An oil refinery explosion in Superior this morning sent 11 people to hospitals, and led to an evacuation in parts of the area.
There were initial reports that 20 people were hurt.
Husky Energy makes gasoline, asphalt, and other products.
The emergency management department is evacuating areas 10 miles to the south of the refinery, and three miles to the east and west. Police Chief Alexander Nicholas says it’s a precautionary step, to make sure people are safe from the fire and and the smoke it’s generating.
Superior Fire Chief Steve Panger says there are no known fatalities.
The explosion happened around 10 a.m.
