A 25-year-old Kaukauna man was the person shot and killed by a Fox Crossing police officer on the Trestle Trail.
The state justice department says Joshua Gomoll was acting erratically with a knife, and approaching people in Fritse Park on Wednesday afternoon.
Gomoll died at the scene. No officers were hurt.
The justice department’s Division of Criminal Investigation is reviewing the case.
