The Kaukauna-based company Expera Specialty Solutions announced today that it’s been sold.
The Finnish company Ahlstrom-Munksjö purchased it for $ 615 million. Expera owns the Thilmany Mill in Kaukauna and the Nicolet Mill in De Pere. It also has facilities in Rhinelander and Mosinee.
Expera spokeswoman Addie Teeters says they plan to keep those open. She says they feel it’s a great addition to have the large financial backing for investments and manufacturing.
Teeters says they expect the deal to be finalized in the second half of this year.
Expera makes specialty paper products and has about 1800 employees. The company was created in 2013 when KPS Capital Partners purchased Thilmany Papers and Wausau Specialty Papers.
