A man charged with slipping an abortion drug to his pregnant girlfriend reached a plea deal with Outagamie County prosecutors.
Forty-five-year-old Manishkumar Patel was convicted of the attempted murder of an unborn child during a hearing today.
The plea came nearly 11 years after Patel is accused of drugging his girlfriend’s smoothie in 2007. She later had a miscarriage.
Patel was charged later that year, and he was on the run for nine years, after he posted a $750,000 bond. U.S. Border Patrol Agents caught him in northern New York, in January of last year.
Patel is scheduled to be sentenced on October 9th. He could face up to 60 years in prison.
