State superintendent and the Democratic candidate for governor Tony Evers says he’d rather go to jail than arm teachers in the state.
The U.S. Department of Education is considering letting federal funding be used to buy weapons for schools to protect against shooters. The money would come out of school enrichment funds.
Evers says he’s completely against the idea. He says the funding should be used for things like making class sizes smaller and helping struggling students. He says using the funding for firearms is beyond belief.
Evers says he’ll do everything in his power to not let it happen.
