The owner of a salvage yard just west of Oshkosh will spend 11 years in prison on charges that he ripped off a scrap metal company in Fond du Lac.
Prosecutors say 53-year-old Sterling Kienbaum of Fox Valley Iron and Metal took over $14 million over a six-year period. They say he was putting dirt in scrap vehicles to increase their weight before he sold them to Sadoff Iron and Metal.
Kienbaum entered no contest pleas in January to charges of racketeering and theft. He’ll also have to serve three years on extended supervision after he’s released from prison.
