A De Pere man is going to prison for 10 years for killing a mother and daughter in a drunk driving crash in Brown County.
Prosecutors say 46-year-old David Meyer hit 44-year-old Rebecca Pennenberg and 18-year-old Raelia Pennenberg in August of last year. The Pennenbergs were walking on French Road in the Town of Lawrence, and they died at the scene.
Judge William Atkinson tearfully said his wife and daughter take walks together, and he could only imagine them never coming home.
Atkinson says he won’t spend one dime supporting the alcohol industry. He says people are being brainwashed into thinking they need alcohol to enjoy life.
Meyer entered no contest pleas in June to two counts of homicide by driving with a prohibited alcohol concentration. He’ll also serve 10 years on extended supervision after he’s released from prison.
