A new place for the homeless to go during the day opens today in Appleton.
The Homeless Connections Resource Center is at the former school at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church west of the downtown. It’s on Mason Street just south of College Avenue.
Executive Director Jerome Martin says they want it to be a hub of different resources to help people in any way they can. He says there will be things like case management and housing services, alcohol and drug abuse recovery, and mental health programs.
Martin says they want to make it a safe and welcoming place where people can spend the day. The center will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
