Both of the major-party candidates for governor now say they’ll boost funding for schools to cover two-thirds of their costs.
Governor Walker made that pledge today, after Democrat Tony Evers vowed to do that last month. The state hasn’t met the commitment of two-thirds funding in 16 years.
Walker didn’t say how he would pay for it, adding the details would come later. Evers is the state superintendent of schools, and he proposed the funding in the budget he submitted.
