There’s a race for a spot in Congress that covers much of northeast Wisconsin.
Republican Congressman Mike Gallagher of Green Bay faces Democrat Beau Liegeois of Allouez in the 8th district in tomorrow’s election.
Gallagher is running for his second term. He says they could lower health care costs by forcing providers to release the prices they charge. He says until people realize how their money is being spent, they’re never going to have the power. He says the lack of transparency benefits big hospitals and insurance companies.
Liegeois says he’s not taking money from the health care industry. He thinks that’s influencing other lawmakers. He says the federal government should negotiate medicare prescription drug prices, like the V.A. does. He says it would have a significant, immediate impact, and would have bipartisan support. He says it needs to be put on paper and signed by the president.
Liegeois is an assistant district attorney in Brown County.
