Governor-elect Tony Evers is calling on Republicans to stop any and all attempts to play politics and weaken the powers of the governor’s office, before he’s sworn in.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said yesterday that he’s open to seeing if there are ways to “rebalance” powers. It could be done in a lame-duck session while Governor Walker is still in office.
Evers issued a statement today, saying it’s a complete violation of the separation of powers in the system.
He says he’s committed to working with both parties to get things done on health care, education, infrastructure, and other issues. But Evers says he won’t tolerate desperate antics to cling to power.
