Save for a special unit in grade school social studies class, Wisconsinites don’t often have a chance to learn about the tribes with whom we share our state. The historical record is often skewed, reflecting stereotypes from the time rather than an authentic picture of life as it was lived. Tribes today face other challenges of representation and sharing their stories.
At the Trout Museum of Art visitors can learn about tribal people past and present through three photography exhibits on display until December 16. Learn more from museum staff in this interview.
