A program that’s expected to start next year in Winnebago County will offer free rides for people to get to work.
The Greater Oshkosh Economic Development Corporation helped put together what will be called Catch a Ride, or CAR.
CEO Jason White says it’s especially important for companies to have reliable workers, given the tight job market and the low unemployment rate. He says they want to help by giving people a way to get to work on time, when they don’t have other options.
White says they’re setting up an on-demand system for people to ask for a ride.
He says they’re looking for volunteer drivers, and their mileage would be reimbursed through grant funding the group received.
