The City of Brillion received a $500,000 grant to help with the redevelopment of the former Brillion Iron Works Site.
The money is from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. CEO Mark Hogan says they’re optimistic about the future of the site. He says they expect the project to act as a catalyst for even more development in the area.
The project has two phases. The grant will help offset demolition costs for the first phase that’s already underway. Ariens Company bought 70 of the 145 available acres and is renovating one of the buildings into a new research and development facility. The phase also includes putting in a new road, demolishing remaining buildings, and adding a bridge crossing.
The first phase is expected to cost about $10 million and it could be done in 2020.
