Some groups that are fighting poverty in the region will share almost $1.6 million in new grant funding.
It’s coming from the Basic Needs Giving Partnership, through money raised at the annual U.S. Venture Open. The community foundations in the Fox Valley, Oshkosh, and Green Bay are handing out the grants.
U.S. Venture’s Greg Vandenberg says they’re again focusing on battling the root causes of poverty.
A new program in the Fox Cities will set up a single-room housing program for people living in a shelter and can pay rent, but have problems getting a lease. A grant in Oshkosh will provide mental health screening for all eighth grade students.
