Prosecutors are charging a 34-year-old Oshkosh man with the death of his roommate’s 10-month-old son.
Freddy Colon was in Winnebago County court Tuesday afternoon, and his bond was set at $250,000. He was arrested Monday, after the baby died last week.
Colon is charged with first-degree reckless homicide.
Police were called to a house in the 800 block of Grove Street, on Oshkosh’s east side, on December 9th. The child was flown by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in the Milwaukee area.
Prosecutors say Colon’s four-year-old son told people Colon either spanked or hit the baby, while the boy’s mother went outside to smoke a cigarette. They say Colon admitted he was mad, because the woman and baby got up early that morning, after he was out drinking the night before. They say Colon also was frustrated the two hadn’t moved out yet.
