An animal neglect case in Manitowoc is drawing attention to local programs that help people get food for their pets.
Vicki Prey is the Outagamie County humane officer, and she’s also on the board of the Fox Valley Humane Association. She says people can receive free food for their pets once a month at the humane association.
Prey says they have a screening process, and if people are eligible, they’ll get a punch card. She says after six six punches, they’re asked to pay $10, or donate towels or blankets, so they have ownership of the program.
A starving dog rescued two weeks ago from a Manitowoc home is doing better. A second dog was found dead.
