A former candidate for Outagamie County Sheriff is in custody on possible child pornography charges.
Forty-nine-year-old Alex Bebris ran for sheriff earlier this year, and he finished a distant second in the August Republican primary.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s department says it was acting on a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the electronic transfer of child pornography.
Bebris was arrested at his home in Fox Crossing yesterday, after deputies and agents from the state justice department served a search warrant.
The campaign website for Bebris billed him as a “Husband. Father. Conservative. Business Owner.” He could face multiple charges.
