A blizzard dumped massive amounts of snow over a weekend in mid-April.
The storm that set records in a number of communities was one of the top local stories in 2018.
Appleton’s 109-year-old mark for a single storm, from December of 1909, fell by nearly two inches. The total was 21.4 inches over four days.
StormCenter 2 Chief Meteorologist Steve Beylon says it started slowly on Friday night. But he says there was a second punch later Saturday night and especially into Sunday. The snow continued to fall a little on Monday.
Green Bay’s all-time record of 29 inches from 1888 stayed intact. Beylon says snow totals in Oshkosh were 11.4 inches. That’s well below the record of 15-1/2 inches, set in January of 1996.
