The proposal for Greenville to become a village is expected to take shape over the next two months.
Town Administrator Joel Gregozeski says staffers are working on the application for the state Department of Administration. He says a special committee will hold a series of meetings next month and in February, to go through the various sections. He says the public will be able to weigh in before they plan to submit the application in late February.
Gregozeski says the state agency has six months to review the application, and decide whether the town meets the standards to become a village.
If the town can move forward, Gregozeski says a judge would schedule a referendum. He says the special election could be in the late summer or fall.
