Appleton firefighters are getting used to a new fire truck.
They started using the engine yesterday, and it went on its first call last night.
The department is getting four trucks over a four-year period from Pierce Manufacturing, and this is the second one to be delivered.
Driver-Engineer Jake Kirchner says it’s unique, because it’s an engine-rescue hybrid. He says it carries rescue equipment, like tools to get people out of vehicles.
The new truck will be based out of Station 1, on Drew Street.
