There was a change in leadership at the top of the Oshkosh school district earlier this year.
The hiring of new Superintendent Vickie Cartwright, and the retirement of Superintendent Stan Mack, was one of the top local stories of 2018.
Cartwright came to the district from Orlando, Fla., where she was the associate superintendent of Orange County Public Schools.
Cartwright says she plans to keep stressing the district’s motto, Building Community Through Education. She also wants to focus on improving reading by implementing a new program.
Cartwright started in July.
Mack was Oshkosh’s superintendent for six years. He spent 45 years working in education.
