The head of a children’s museum in downtown Appleton says the loss of a parking ramp could force them out of the downtown.
Jarrad Bittner is the executive director for the Building for Kids. He says most of the families have parked in the Blue Ramp when they come to the museum.
He says they’re concerned about safety, now that the ramp is closed and it will be torn down. Bittner says families will have to park farther away, and kids will be crossing busier streets.
Bittner says they’ll do a study at the end of this year to see if parking is a big enough problem that they might have to consider a new location.
He says they asked the city to put a temporary gravel lot on the Blue Ramp site. But he says the city wants to plant grass, in hopes of attracting developers to build there.
