Kimberly and Little Chute are the latest communities to ban minors from having vaping devices, like e-cigarettes.
Fox Valley Metro police started enforcing the rule at the beginning of the year.
Officer Duane Dissen is a school liaison officer in the Kimberly school district. He says some of the devices have a USB drive, and people are seeing them around school. He says some of the devices are charged through a USB port, and students are plugging them into their school-issued laptops duing class.
He says they’re making sure teachers know what to look out for because they don’t look anything like regular cigarettes. Dissen says they’re also learning that some students are using them to smoke marijuana.
The fines are the same as for having cigarettes.
