The Oshkosh Area Humane Society is celebrating a record year.
Officials say the shelter had an over 97 percent live release rate last year.
That’s the percentage of animals adopted, transferred to another shelter or returned to its owner.
Officials say that’s not just their best rate but the best of any open-admission shelter in Wisconsin that it’s seen.
Open-admission shelters don’t turn away any animal because of age, health or temperament.
On average the shelter serves 2,200 animals each year.
