The Oshkosh fire department had its best holiday food and toy drive in the 20-year history of the fundraiser.
Spokesman John Holland is breaking down the numbers. He says they got a record number of toy and cash donations. He says they got almost 3,600 toys and $3,500. He says they also got over 3,600 pounds of food.
Holland says the food and toys went to the Salvation Army. He says the nonprofit was able to help almost 420 families through its toy shop and more than 100 others through the Adopt-a-Family program. The donations are going toward scholarships for high school students interested in becoming police officers or firefighters.
