Before more work is done on the proposal to build a new library in downtown Appleton, the city wants to see more specifics on the overall project.
Commercial Horizons would put the library in a mixed-use development on the site of the Soldiers Square parking ramp.
Mayor Tim Hanna says the company is making progress on the second phase, on land that’s south of the YMCA. He says they’re very close to having definite plans for that phase.
Hanna says the two projects are “married” and he plans to bring them forward together, so the city council can talk about them as a package.
Nearly a year ago, Commercial Horizons was considering building 200 apartments, retail space, and a restaurant on the site that’s south of the YMCA.
