Valley Transit is working on an app that would let riders see where their bus is in real-time before they get on.
Ron McDonald is the general manager. He says they’re beta testing the app now, and anticipate launching it the first week of February.
McDonald says the app will also let riders receive alerts if there’s a detour or something happening. Valley Transit has also looked into getting Wi-Fi for the buses. McDonald says it’s not cost effective at this point and he doesn’t see them adding it in the immediate future.
Oshkosh’s GO Transit just launched an app last Friday. It also has real-time tracking of buses.
