The list of Oscar nominees includes two people with ties to the Fox Cities.
Willem Dafoe is up for Best Actor for his role in “At Eternity’s Gate.” It’s the former Appleton man’s fourth Oscar nomination, and first for lead actor. He’s been nominated for Best Supporting Actor three times, including last year for “The Florida Project.”
“Ralph Breaks the Internet,” from writer and director Phil Johnston, is in the running for Best Animated Feature. The Neenah High School graduate was a co-writer for “Zootopia,” the winner of the 2017 Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
