The city of Oshkosh will target four areas for rental unit inspections in the next five years.
The common council, last night, approved an amended law that focuses on areas designated as needing improvement.
Mayor Steve Cummings accuses landlords of sabotaging the city’s previous inspection program. He says many landlords sent intimidating letters to tenants telling them they would be responsible for the inspection and repairs.
The previous rental inspection program in Oshkosh required all units in the city to be inspected every five years but that was struck down by a new state law last year.
