With below-zero temperatures expected this week furnaces are working extra hard.
Leon Charnetski is an HVAC instructor at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay. He says it’s normal to see a furnace running non-stop. He says the temperature in a house may drop despite that because furnaces aren’t designed to run at extreme temperatures.
Charnetski says it’s important to check the filter and make sure the registers are open. He thinks it’s a good idea to set the thermostat to a constant temperature so the furnace won’t struggle to keep up.
