Wisconsin Public Service crews were busy this morning in the Chilton area, where about 6,000 customers lost power this morning.
They were able to fix a power line that went down in about two hours. WPS spokesman Matthew Cullen says they have extra workers on hand today, to make sure they can quickly restore power.
Cullen understands it’s tough to lose heat in the sub-zero weather, and people should reach out to family or friends, if there would be a prolonged outage.
There was a warming shelter in Chilton, at the Calumet County courthouse, this morning.
People in the Ripon and Green Lake areas also had to deal with outages this morning. About 4,300 customers were impacted.
