Staffers at a homeless shelter in Appleton had to scramble a bit last night when a water pipe burst.
About 70 people were moved from the Pillars adult shelter off College Avenue to The Mission Church on N. Appleton Street.
Pillars Executive Director Joe Mauthe says they’re thankful the church stepped up. He says workers fixed the pipe and their shelter is ready for tonight.
He also credits their workers for adjusting. Mauthe says they had to take mats and other supplies to The Mission Church and bring them back today.
Pillars is continuing to help more people than normal this winter.
