The Port of Green Bay topped the two-million ton mark in 2018 shipping season.
It’s the first time that’s happened in five years.
Director Dean Haen says the nearly 2.1 million ton figure is up 14 percent from 2017. He says the increase is a reflection of the economy in northeast Wisconsin. He says the port is moving a lot of the raw materials for manufacturing, so it reflects a strong economy.
The last ship to bring products to the port docked on January 28th. That’s the latest closing date for a season in at least 30 years. It may be the latest date in the port’s history but there aren’t any records beyond the past three decades.
