The two top Republicans in the Legislature are pointing to tolls as a way to help pay for road work in the state.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos talked about the issue at a Wisconsin Counties Association meeting in Madison this morning.
Fitzgerald says he doesn’t see how any state could solve its transportation issues, without some type of open-road tolling. He doesn’t think they could collect enough money by raising the gas tax.
Assembly Minority Leader Gordon Hintz of Oshkosh says Vos and Fitzgerald have been talking about tolling for years, and haven’t done anything yet.
