The city of Appleton is working with U.S. Venture and the owners of what’s called the bluff site to design an underground parking ramp.
U.S. Venture will use the ramp, and it will be open to the public.
Mayor Tim Hanna says the layout of the company’s new downtown headquarters will impact the setup of the ramp. The ramp will be the building’s foundation, so Hanna says they’ll need to put support walls in certain spots. He says the parking consultant will then decide how to best use the space.
Hanna was a guest on Fresh Take with Josh Dukelow on WHBY this morning.
The ramp needs to be built before U.S. Venture can start construction on the headquarters.
Mosaic Health is on part of the bluff site, and Hanna says the clinic doesn’t need to be moved, in order to start work on the ramp. But he adds the former Fox Banquets and Trinity Lutheran Church buildings will have to be demolished.
