Police in Grand Chute are looking for a new K-9.
The department is starting a fundraising effort, in hopes of bringing in $30,000.
Officer Travis Waas says their current dog, Fram, has a tumor on his bladder, and he’ll be retiring soon. Fram joined the department seven years ago, and the average service life of a K-9 is seven to 10 years.
Waas says despite the cancer diagnosis in late 2017, Fram hasn’t missed a day at work. He was initially given six months to live.
The department is also considering whether to try to raise enough money to start a second K-9 unit.
